Seems to be an awful lot of Blackbirds around this time of year,..very welcome to see them....I noticed a report on the Shetland Bird Site that a Ring Ouzel is at Sand Garth at Dales Voe,.. maybe the same one I saw in the hills of Nibon... ..I tried to photo a Blackbird having a bath in my birdbath this morning but it flew off when I went outside with my camera... drat..

I am glad it's still alive. Poor thing. I was informed by a reliable source that such birds often don't last long. It makes sense that it ended up in Foula though as that was the direction it was headed or being blown! On another note Georgeg I am still on the Nibon settlement case. Pat

It was dark by the time I left the office here on friday night and as I drove down past the trees two Hagris lifted from the trees and flew out over the voe. I guess they must have settled there to roost overnight? It's not often you see two together I think?

The most I have seen was 7 Herons at Crooksetter Burn ,which flows out into Orca Voe..they were grouped together on a path besides the burn.. ..by the way this burn has a decent run of Sea Trout at the back end of the season..I seen a Water Rail a Coot a Waterhen and a family of Otters in this burn some years ago... ..

Pat We have between 8 and 11 that roost in the trees here in Sullom every night.......they fly in fae the shores in a "pack!".......They can be brawly noisy and not best pleased if we happen to be up in the trees when they fly in!

Hi Fiona I have been trying to post a photo . I followed what you said and it would appear that the photo is in cyberspace or where ever. When I try to upload it to the site then it comes up with a note saying that "Oops it looks like you have followed a bad link". I'm not sure what to do now. Can you help? I would be most grateful. Thanks Pat

Hi Fiona I uploaded the picture into both the sites you mentioned in your post about adding pictures to forum posts. This bit was no problem really. The trouble started when neither seemed to want to link through to the picture to the Northmavine site for some reason. Either that or the link went right into my email site. It will be me Fiona, I'm so hopeless with these things. Pat

Hi.Patioman... Your message was passed to me this morning..and I am really grateful to you for letting me know about that matter..which I admit , I was a bit ignorant, although my son thought the same as you..anyway that post has now gone... ....now, have you mastered how to copy and paste yet,..if so, it would be real nice to see some of your pictures on the birds you took on your holidays up here.. ...and I might add , wee fairly miss your banter on da forum.. ;)by the way the Hen Harrier which was nesting in the Muirshiel Moors in Renfrewshire, lost its chicks to a Fox for the second year running.. time they did something about that animal, as Hen Harriers are quite rare, Fox.s. aint.....Hope to hear from you soon...
