Pat. My son told me once that a pair of Perigrines nested near Zoar I think it was on the cliffs at the Heads of Grocken..

Am I right in thinking that a Ring Ouzel is similar to a blackbird? maybe not... my bird knowledge can let me down!
Now to buy myself a camera so i can do justice to the things i might take pictures off... amongst other things, a bird or two perhaps.

Calling georgeg and any other birdie people ;D I think I have just seen an Egret here in Cunningsburgh Now this may be the effects of the bad weather lately and the fact that I am eluding back to my holiday in France in the summer but I swear it looked like one! It was whiter than any maas seagulls around here and smaller than a hegri heron. It struggled up over the banks at the Ayre o Aith and settled shakily at the top of the Towa Gaet only to fly off down into the Aith meadows. Due to the ferocity of the wind and rain I lost sight of it then. I phoned our local bird man and he is on the case. Yours in terror that I have got it wrong. Pat

We had a Woodcock in the garden here in Lerwick, just after last week's gale. It was going under the bushes and picking among the leaves on the ground. Looks like a snipe, but nearly as big as a pigeon. Very well camouflaged, as it pretty well disappeared when it stopped moving.

Hi. Heimdal..The last time I saw a Woodcock was in a place called the bluebell woods in the outskirts of Paisley back in the late 40s when I was about 10 years old..
