I agree, and I prefer the old fashioned bush type roses, I think they look a lot more 'natural' than the fancy hybrids.

Thank you for the name of that rose Pat. ;D I had all my gardening books out yesterday looking for it! It's not just the colour that is stunning, it's the layout of the petals which struck me. It has got to be one of the most beautiful roses I've seen in a long time. The only roses I grow down here are Compassion - 3 of them as climbers up against the house and Albertine which is struggling, manfully, to get a grip round an old tree in the orchard but isn't having much success. Compassion is very good in the full sun and come to no harm with it and has lovely apricot pink flowers. It also bears big rosehips through the winter and (yes, it's true) they are still flowering now. The only trouble with them is they are very prone to black spot and if I forget to spray them early in the season they start looking like Spotty Dog.

Hope this little picture of one of the prettiest little flowers cheers you up. Don't know where this picture has gone. It's still there on this posting when I edit it but it's not showing up. Does anyone know why?? edit* did as I was told and went and rephotographed the snowdrops and it's a better picture too!!! When you look real close you realise how beautiful they really are too.

It doesn't seem to be there in your Photobucket, benji. <But you've got some crackers in there! 'Benjie's party' is a real aaah one. Must get the pets section going as you suggested!> If you've still got the snowdrops picture, try uploading it to your Photobucket again then do the photo link in the forum again.

Sorted it, Fiona, I had deleted the original photo so have just been out to capture them again......but not without tripping over busy-body hens who wanted to see what I was doing!!! Spotted these in the orchard! Pretty yellow crocuses on a sunny morning. Technology is a marvellous thing!

I love this time of year when the daffodils are all out and you know that summer is just around the corner.

Bonnie flowers all round Fiona, Bod and BM - for some reason I seem to have missed these til now. I think your Ajuga is the flower that know as Bugle Bod - maybe!

It's been really bleak and grim here today so I went off to Dibley's nursery where they keep a national collection of streptocarpus. These plants were for the big shows they go to. They have certificates and medals everywhere. They've just got a gold at Chelsea I overheard someone say. The glasshouses take your breath away! I bought a couple of smaller ones and two plug plants to grow on.

those look lovely BM, would be nice to have loads in the garden. Here's a cistus, it gets loads of flowers on it but each one only lives for a day.

That's a very pretty flower bod. Very shocking pink. At the other end of the spectrum I found this one in the Roman Gardens in Chester, just after a shower of rain.
