Cute little things they are, maybe they have heard about Alky's style and are copying her. Yep the big one's not to be messed with.

They're a lovely pair of calves. Mum standing guard too! While I was on my "conference" got up early and had a stroll along the road outside the hotel. Met this lot.... Looks like one of the cows has drawn the short straw for looking after the lot!

Galloways have one helluva bad temperament. I saw the one in the field next to us at Blythoid take a 30+ foot full pelt charge at a day old Hereford calf and send it flying nearly 30 feet down the hill and continue to attack this calf for no real reason that I could see. I had to call the crofter who turned up and removed the Herefords to another area. Seems he had had problems with this patrticular Galloway cow before.
But they do make great steak ;D

Welsh Black cow with her calf at the Royal Welsh Show...Aaahhhhhh! The Welsh Blacks eventually won the Group of Five which, as you can imagine went down very well with the crowd. The judge was from Kelso - so no favouritism there!

Well, bet you could get a few nice sirloin steaks out of that lots. Actually was watching Hugh F-W off River Cottage the other night, it showed a couple of his sheep going to the slaughter house and then being stunned and their throats cut, it sort of put me off meat a bit. Theses cows live near me. Think they look lovely with their long horns, not sure of their make.

Think I'm getting the hang of my camera now and can do a bit of cropping on a programme called Picassa, suppose the more I do the easier it becomes, in March I didn't even take photos and had no interest - thats progress.

Headline news tonight was that a case of foot and mouth has been confirmed near Surrey. A 10 km cordon has been placed round the smallholding and a UK ban on movements has imposed until vets have confimed the virus strain.
