This is taken from an on-going discussion on Sheriff Bell's Diary on Shetlopedia and more info is needed... "Christmas Morning at the Busta Stone 15th September, 1844..From the various rising grounds, the views of mingled sea and land, with all the varying shades of a Shetland day, were very magnificent. The Standing Stone of Busta is about half a mile from the house, and its venerable lichen is of a kind much used by the people as a dye. There is no tradition as to the stone, except that on Christmas Morning, it goes down to the sea for the purpose of taking a cold bath." Later in the discussion the writer asks... Heimdal and Robbie, can you add something to the Busta Stone section above ? Do the people still wash the stone in the sea on Christmas morning ? Anyone know where this stone is and any more info ?? Full discussion is here.. shetlopedia.com/User_talk:Bruce_bell
