"THE spectacular cliffs of Eshaness are one of Scotland's top sight seeing locations, a survey has found. VisitShetland yesterday (Monday) celebrated the result of a online survey which had UK visitors submit their top ten things to see and do in Scotland. The Perfect Day survey is a collaboration between Hollywood actor Billy Boyd and national tourism agency VisitScotland. The survey showed that the Eshaness cliffs were the third most popular Scottish holiday activity among Liverpudlians, and came in at seventh and ninth respectively for Yorkshire and London audiences. Islands manager for VisitShetland, Andy Steven, said it was great to see the islands featuring in people's top ten choices of Scottish holiday pursuits. "Eshaness offers some of the most spectacular coastal scenery in Shetland and indeed Scotland as a whole, and even more so in a gale, when the huge cliffs are relentlessly battered by the Atlantic! The results of this survey show there really is something for everyone on a holiday in Scotland," he said. The cliffs at Eshaness, at the western tip of Northmavine, are of volcanic rock which has eroded into some spectacular rock formations. The area is overlooked by one of the last Stevenson lighthouses built in 1929." www.shetlandmarine.com/2008/06%20Leisure%20&%20Yachting/liverpool_loves_eshaness.htmwww.visitscotland.org/news_item.htm?newsID=50826
