Was thinking... it would be a most splendid thing if there were webcams covering each of the areas mentioned in the area guide part. Don't know much about the logistics of such, but anything which provides an interactive feature is a good thing for such a website as this, or well, i think so... at least i'd like viewing them (especially when i'm not here). A little bit of home away from home, and for any touristy folk, a little extra taster of what it looks outside of photos/descriptions. Just a thought... any opinions? david

It was on the list of possibilities way back in the dim'n'distant past when the website was first being discussed <or at least when I was first involved> but it was case of getting basics done first. Walk before ya run stuff. It would depend on what the website group <when we get one going again> and the NDC thinks of it, it if it is really wanted and the logistics of it, as you say. Anybody else got views on a webcam or webcams as a project for the future?

Something similar to this was discussed in the dim and distant past as a project. I hope folks from both within and outwith Northmavine will keep the views on this one coming in as this will help to guage interest.

Trowe watch indeed, i better keep out of shot just incase of possible mistaken identity (would be easily understandable!). Never know who (...giants...) might be watching.
I'd say it'd be a good idea to keep the idea alive, get further response and if postive, look at giving it a thumbs up, put on a "to do" list (i'm sure that list is long enough to be going with!), and see how it turns out.
*i would be out taking more photo's tonight... but the weather is not entirely photogenic. Mind you, might be a better reflection most of the time... i might be leading those astray with "sun only" moments!*

Can anyone tell me why a post added in Aug 2006 is top of the board in this section?

Perhaps a cull of unused threads might be in order ?

In a recent discussion with Andy Steven of Visit Shetland he was remarking about how popular the webcams on their site were and was keen to roll out more throughout Shetland. Might be worth someone getting in touch with him?
