I've had an email from Mary who is at school in Germany. Can anyone help her, erm by Monday? "Hello my name is Mary and I am from Germany I am in the 12th class and I am preparing a talk about customs and traditions in Great Britain. I have chosen Up-Helly-Aa and I need your help. I found a lot of information about this fire-festival and I also found the lyrics of three songs. The "Up-Helly-Aa" song, the "Norsman´s Home" and the "Galley" song but I can`t find the songs. I found your threat on "Northmavine Forum" and I hope you can help me. Do you know where I can get the songs from or could you send me the songs per E-Mail as mp3 or could you send me a link where I can find it. Do you know where I can get more Up-Helly-Aa songs? That would be very nice of you, because I need the songs for my English-Talk on Monday. Sorry for mistakes in grammar. :-) Thanks for help Mary" I've found this - www.integuby.co.uk/docs/uha11.htmand various videos on Youtube, but that's about all I can find the noo.

Hi benjiesmum Maree's link might be www.shetland-news.co.uk/ which is the Shetland News website and there you can see the links to some lovely Up-Helly-Aa photos I was in Lerwick yesterday morning for a hospital appointment but managed to grab a few photos of the Jarl Squad too so will post them here for you too The Gallery, seems a shame to think all this handiwork went up in flames last night The Jarl's Squad on the Galley The Jarl, his wife and their son And finally, the Jarl Squad heading off to the Council Chambers at the Town Hall for toasts, drams and also to gain the freedom of Lerwick for 24hrs - hope they used it wisely! ;D

Well, here we are - another year, another Up Helly Aa!! The Visit Shetland webcam is showing the Bill plus live feed from the Market Cross. I believe there is meant to be a webcam on the Town Hall showing live footage of the procession tonight. So Benji - you don't have to be stuck watching the Market Cross all night this year! www.visitshetland.com/Edit: The footage of inside the Tourist Office shows someone looking remarkably like Malcolm helping people..
