I make all types of quilts, pretty much whatever I see that I like. I enjoy working on various techniques, like crazy quilts, blocks, fussy cutting then piecing, circles, applique, etc. I also teach quilting, so I learn whatever techniques my students want to try. Rather than a specific quilt, students are free to do their own quilts. I try to have very relaxing classes and want students to learn to love quilting, not be stressed that they have to keep up with others in the class. You can see a couple of my quilts at my website I am still working on getting the website expanded. My son is "supposed" to be hard at work updating... I actually love most crafts. Right now I am working on fabric dying also. Kind of like a batik process using a water resist and painting process, rather than overall dying. If anyone would like to view hampdenquilts website, please feel free to PM her for the link. >Edited with HQ's permission in accordance with out T&C's< Admin.

Nice! I've just seen your webpage - what a lovely workroom . I like all crafts as well - speaking of dyeing, I forgot to mention my other passion - rag rugs. I dye and overdye mostly cottons some muslins etc and rip into strips then hook or pull into a hessian backing. I've braided some rugs too. Do you use chemical or plant dyes? I had a salt-dough craft business years back when I lived in England, and last month made a load of christmas decorations - really enjoyed myself!

Hi Hamdenquilts, your web address is un-recognised by Dogpile. Right mg, go and learn how to spell hampdenquilts - write it out three times in your best writing using the LOOK, SAY, COVER, WRITE, CHECK method!!! He he!!! Anyway, on a more serious note...I have made a quilt...yes...don't be shocked. It took me 20 years to make. Well not really 20 years, because I wasn't doing it all the time - just when the mood took me and when I had some spare old shirts, blouses and pieces of Laura Ashley material. Most of it though is mg's shirts - which were quite vivid in those days when I started it. I'll try and root it out and take a pic sometime!!

MG - I wonder if dogpile doesn't recognize a website in the US? Not sure why it isn't recognized. And don't worry about spelling my name. My first name is a very different name and I answer to pretty much anything. I have been called some very interesting names!
I have a quilt that my mother started almost 50 years ago. She worked on it, off and on over the years. She finally gave it to me to finish, but...I still haven't finished it. I do love to look at it and find my Dad's shirts, the skirt I wore on my first day of school, etc. It feels like a history of my life. I treasure that quilt top the most!
My workroom is my favorite place to go. Plenty of room to spread out and a great view for inspiration. And when I need a dose of reality, the cows are just below the windows! When we decided to use only the big round balse of hay, we no longer needed that area of the barn to store hay bales. So I called my carpenter friend, and we started to transform the place. I have room for lots of storage, and can leave my projects out to work on when I can. I do the dyeing in the good weather and hang the fabric on the clotheslines to dry/set. Today I am working with a water soluable resist and painting dyes on fabrics in cosmic inspired designs. I am usually a more traditional designer, but am trying to expand my horizons. Free my inner spirit.
I have used both chemical and plant dyes. Both are pretty messy. I find the chemical are more reliable, colorwise, but the plant dyes are fun to use. We used flower petals to dye fabric during one experiment. I gathered the interesting flower petals from my garden (and mother-in-laws, but she wasn't..exactly... home at the time). I made some designs with them placed on the fabric, then we pounded them gently with a hammer into the fabric. we got some very weird results. Many petals just turned brown. But some were glorious. Then we added details with permanent Pigma pens and quilted the results for wallhangings. I am very lucky that I have a best friend who will try any kind of project with me.

Hi All.
In light of recent events re- Agatehunter and Bonna may I remind our members of our rule on no commercial advertising I also have to remind members that links to websites containing saleable goods or services are not permitted.
However there is nothing in the rules to stop you from sending links in a PM "But only if someone requests it".

HQ you are lucky - I have lots of friends but none are as obsessed about crafts as I am. Apparently I learned to cut fabric before I could walk - I've got the scar to prove it too! BJM I love those quilts the best - don't think I've ever made one with all bought fabrics.

OOPS - sorry Malcolm et al, I did think of that when I wrote the web address, but since I don't sell quilts or crafts, only teach, I didn't think it was a problem. THAT is what happens when I try to think!! I just find that the site is the easiest way to show my quilts and farm.
Feel free to delete the reference. And I am ready for any penance you suggest.... ;-)

Perhaps Little Tomas Kettlin has taken it as his very own cuddly quilt!
