A few days ago i was out wandering the banks between mossbank and toft beach.. When i returned home I discovered that my shrubs on either side of my garden bench had been trashed, all that was left was a few leafs scattered about, one of the tubs [quite heavy] had been knocked over, some of the leafs were under an opening, under my shed.. the shrub appeared to have been stripped of its branches by being bitten off.. I've ruled out hedgehogs cats dogs and sheep.. which seems to leave just the otter.. I do know that otters have been seen in my garden before, [not by me] so I think that otters might have a holt under my shed, and the missing branches and leafs might be bedding, but not sure, has anyone experienced this kind of thing before.. this is some photos of before and after.. Remember the shrubs i brought back from holiday.. 1. 2. The bench. 3. 4. Bitten off branches.. 5. Scattered leafs.. 6. Overturned tub.. 7. Trail of leafs going under my shed.. Strange but true.. it would be great to have otters living in the garden, I think that this is the time of year they have their kits.. Fingers crossed that I'm right.. geordie..

Hmmm! This happened to me this summer in the orchard where I have a big garden shed. I had some large lavender bushes in pots dotted around the place and two or three of them were trashed over a very short period. It wasn't an otter...........it was RATS!!!! They had used the twigs and leaves to make a nest. It must have been fragrant! Hope it's otters for you George!

It is a young female otter.. it was spotted acting strangely near my garden bench by one of my neighbours, about a week ago, another neighbour told me that one walked along the path and entered my garden, followed by a very brave cat.. ;D .. I think they wait till I go oot in the car, then they invade my garden..

It looks as though you are about to have an Otter family moving in beside you George. God help any cats that try and interfere with them
