i really did not want to post this, but i imagine a few people would like to know why this forum is still running. i joined because i was directed via a link from Fiona who answered a question i posted on another site, i have enjoyed viewing the site on a mainly daily basis, and esp looked foreword to George and Bod and everyone else who used to contribute, Ive always been of the the mind that it would be mainly northmavine oriented by those that live there, not by people living in the British Mainland. So i suppose the question i would like to ask is " IS THIS FORUM WORTH GOING ON WITH"

So i suppose the question i would like to ask is " IS THIS FORUM WORTH GOING ON WITH" My sentiments also Fred.. I have been thinking like you for quite a long time now.. I notice your post was at o827 and no replies.. I do make an effort to post what I consider interesting reading and of course photos.. I also went out of my way to contribute to a heritage thread, then I realised that nobody seems to be interested, whereas I have posted the same posts on some other forums, and the remarks I get are amazing.. So I think i'll call it quits.. and to all you who do post, I wish you well.. goodby from george..

That is sad george. I too make every effort to visit this forum regularly - although I do understand your reasons. Trouble is there is so much on this internet to look at and comment on that it is very hard to find the time to do everything. Sorry you have decided to leave. I too will miss your contributions.

Sorry you feel the need to call it a day with the forum George. The forum is very much worthwhile, there are lots of visitors everyday, A lot of whom do not take up membership or contribute in any way. There are also a lot of members who do not contribute. In one day alone there were 397 visitors over a 24 hour period, they viewed 76% of the forums yet made no posts or attempted to join us.
I get a weekly computerised report that shows how much traffic the forum gets and the figures are quite impressive. It may seem quiet at times and that it is the same people making the posts withing the threads but I think that is down to the fact that most of us up here have more than one job, family and or a croft to look after and are busy especially at this time of year with new life on the crofts and it being high season for tourism.
I hope you stay as I for one will miss your posts and your amazing photographs.

I think you have just answered my question Malcolm, How is the forum worthwhile when no one joins or contributes and if no one is posting anything why would people bother keep looking at a forum with no news! as for the the last part of your theory about second jobs that realy is a red herring if you dont keep it fresh then no one wants to eat it, Sorry to see George leave and im afraid this site is heading 1 way and it aint skyward

I agree Fred that postings are a bit slow at the mo, but maybe we're all out grabbing as much sunshine as we can afore the dark nights engulf us all again I take your point about lurkers having little to look at a the moment, but we're still getting a braw few of them so the few folk that were/have been posting must be doing something right. Here's a couple of reasons why I haven't been on here much lately: The sitting room of youngest sons' hoose a month ago The sitting room of younest sons' hoose a couple of weeks ago. The sitting room is now plasterboarded since this photo was taken, but I haven't managed to get any photos yet! A few sheep at Leon waiting to have their coats removed .....and a certain forum regular 'packin oo'.....the easiest way to compress all the sheeps wool that has been shorn off is to jump in the bag!! Life is full of troughs and peaks, quiet times and busy times but hopefully as the dark nights draw in again we'll all have more time to yarn on the forum. The aim of the website is to let folk know about life in Northmavine and a peerie bit of what's availabel here. The forum was designed to encourage folk from all over the globe to get in touch with each other for a yarn after being brought together by their interest in the website. In the past couple of weeks I've received two e-mails from folk who want to move here and another from someone who was coming up on holiday and wanted some additional information. I've made friends with people from all over the world through both the website and the forum, many of whom have been here for visits and others who will never make it this far, but we've still gained a knowledge of each others' lives. I agree it's quiet at the moment fred, but I'd say it's still worth bothering with

I agree Maree! It is so difficult in the summer time to fit everything in. Looks like you have been really busy.

I have noticed over the years that every Forum, Message Board, etc has it's quiet time especially during the spring and summer months I know I do not post often but I do read the forum everyday unless I am away from home.I am sure they will pick up again once the season starts to change
