Hi All I'm afraid I'm guilty of spending little time on da forum lately. Things have been pretty hectic at work and I've been away sooth a couple of times to conferences for work during June and also to see Boy Zone!! All my spare evenings have been spent doing this!!: Son number two and his girlfriend have been lucky enough to rent a peerie hoose in Sullom, so it's all hands on deck to repair and refurbish. Us girls are now queens of the kingspan insulation and we've now been promoted to the chop saw to help with the work of studding of the kitchen. It's been hot, stuffy work at times with the great weather we've been having, but we're all having a good time pitching together to make a warm and cosy hoose for the young folk. What's everyone else been up to lately? Has everyone been enjoying the uninterrupted sunshine?

My, you've been busy, Maree! We're in sunny (and warm) Ipswich at the moment - just been to Jimmy's Farm today. Jimmy (Doherty) is a pal of Jamie Oliver and his exploits setting up his pig farm was made into a TV series. Great place, lots of different things going on there plus a small farmers' market today too. Got speaking to a bloke who gardens for Jimmy and he asked me if we used seaweed in Shetland. Well.. I told him about the Bod Ayre seaweed plant feed we have in our wee shop and how it was organic, etc. Ended up they could be interested either in stocking it in their gift shop or even better, for use on the farm and there could be mutual promotion. Great if it happens! Margaret Blance would be proud of me! Sitting in our hotel reception just now and Shane Ritchie's just walked though. He might either be a guest at a wedding here today or perhaps working. Graduation in Glasgow went well and another on Mon, and that's what we've been up to. Oh, another lifetime ambition fulfilled - got to go inside a Dalek and speak in a Dalek voice. My Dalek persona announced that the Daleks were going to invade Shetlland, which brought the attendants out to see what was going on..

Good morning all.. Maree. Hows the DIY coming on.. I used to love doing it, until my back told me to stop.. you look really confident with that saw.. hope you all have a nice day.. george.. We're progressing slowly but surely geordie boy! 2 ceilings are now insulated and plaster boarded, but we can't get the walls finished until the electrician arrives. We found an interesting peerie note on one of the pieces of wood we removed. It states that the house was wired for 240V electricity in July 1959 - this would have been when the electricity came to Sullom probably. It's fitting that the wiring is being replaced exactly 50 years later in July 2009 We've also discovered the names of those who built the house written on wood behind the lining. We've added our renovation story to a piece of wood, so that when someone else is renovating in 2059, they're able to know the names of the enthusiastic amateurs who carried out a refurbishment in 2009! As for being confident with the saw...........looks can be disceptive!!

So I got on the cammoflage, got settled in a good site in the rocks and waited and waited... no otters to be seen anywhere.. then i heard a laughing sound.. it was these two Arctic Skues laughing at me.. I suppose I did look a wee bit daft.. ;D

Nice to see what everyone is getting up to. Maree you are busy - trouble is the more you show how capable you are the more jobs you will get. Fiona I enjoyed watching Jimmy's farm, so much hard work was put into it, glad it's still a success. George, nice to see you on fess book, I only go on to see what pipple are up to. Love the laughing birds. Alright for some - think if I had my life over again I would work in a school - hard work I know but the holidays .......

We just got back from our holidays yesterday been down in Scarborough for a week and toured around a bit the weather was scorching hot with the exception of one day when it rained I never thought I would welcome a drop of rain to cool us down. Our hotel was right on the sea front and we had dozens of Scories shouting and screeching all night we had little sleep for the blighters. I am sure I have shrunk 3 inches with all the walking round the shops with Mrs Ox went with two suitcases and came home with two suitcases three holdalls and a few carrier bags.Next Holiday will be a Desert Island with no shops just a few Dusky Maidens to serve up the grub and cold drinks.

What am i up to! Well im looking for a job after taking redundancy after 18 years with Yeo Valley, It is not looking good down here at the moment, But i will keep trying and applying. I still hope to holiday in Shetland in November. And i can't make my mind up whether to drive or fly up, i enjoyed the boat trip last time, but it did take a long time.

Sorry to hear that Fred.. and hope you find something soon.. I always use the boat as i like to take my car with me.. but to visit shetland i think you lose so much time of your holiday with travelling by ferry.. effectively you would lose two days of your time with traveling.. george..
