'Bumping' is a way of pushing your post back to the top to be more visible. It's frowned upon/not allowed in many forums; allowed in some, often with restrictions, otherwise it can get out of hand. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bump_%28Internet%29There was a thread discussing it on Shetlink, after some people were frequently/repeatedly bumping 'for sale' posts - www.shetlink.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5304It's ok in my opinion in some cases, eg, adding more information to a 'for sale' post or perhaps when quite a long time has elapsed and someone may want to remind people with a 'still available' note. What's not usually acceptable is when someone is doing it not long after their last one or when they're doing it to deliberately to push their way to the top and push others out of the way whenever a new one appears. Not very good netiquette. In the Shetlink discussion, someone mentions this - someone bumping their post to the top every time a new one came along, but thought that "spamming of that sort could be dealt with under existing terms". We could all just bump our posts willy-nilly in a free-for-all, but it would just get silly. Can I, as a member, ask politely if it would be possible for the new forum regime <when the new forum admin/s start> to consider bumping issues and perhaps reflect their decisions clearly in the T&Cs? Thank ye kindly. I'll be happy to go along with whatever's decided.
