That is amazing! All I saw was sea glass. We have very little sea glass on our beaches near me, but I saw lots of beautiful glass on the beach in Lerwick. We stopped at some beaches in northmavine, but just saw rocks and shells. of course, we didn't know what to look for. We also met a friendly sheep dog who wanted to "herd" us. He was a wonderful dog

Hi Allen. Wow! That looks great. Very much intact too. I have been to Skara Brae many years ago on Orkney and was amazed at what I saw.
As for resizing your pics - go back to your photos in PB and click edit at the top of your piccie. It then gives you options to resize to tiny, small, medium or large across the top of the pic you have selected. Hope this helps.

It is in fact Lunning, the group of houses at the end of the road, now much altered, and some roofless. No crops grown now. The location can be seen on Google Streetview.

It seems like a fantastic place and good for enjoyment. I prefer to go on such kind of locations on holidays and would like to spend some time in such fantastic locations. These kind of locations cause you to feel fresh and dynamic.

also got an update on the first settlement called Grunie last man died in 1953 called Lowrie Henderson.. In first world war the settlement was used as a sawmill, the timber was dropped off by ship.. the noosts are near the end of the movie, for anyone who does'ent know what a noost is, its a hollow where they kept there boats..
Lowrie Henderson.. built a wooden house near the settlement, after he died the crofter from Gunnister croft took the planks to repair his barns, the crofter told me they were at least 2 feet in width.. The crofter told me that Lowrie Henderson.. was a kind'a bad tempered man, but he liked the children from Gunnister croft, there was two, a boy and a girl, the boy now 61 told me this.. Now to recap there was three settlements along Gunnister Voe..
This is a short film of Grunie settlement..

Old but gold because old is always more than gold and nations who do not preserve their old or remember their bases, can not enjoy sovereignty..In fact they do not have right for this. accom byron bay

What an interesting site with such amazing photos. I just found my gg grandfather Thomas Vennard listed on the 1881 census as a missionary boarding with John T Robison, schoolmaster at Northmavine so I've been looking for historical information of the area ever since. Your pictures have given me a sense of the beauty he would have been surrounded by while there. Thank you.
