Our list of forum sections seems to be growing by the day at da moment ;D In light of this (and the amount of scrolling down required!) I'd be keen to hear how folk feel about the youth section. Should we keep it? Should it be given it's own forum section within the main board? Are young folk too busy gettin involved in the real world to have time to post on the forum? Is there a particular reason why young folk haven't quite clicked with the youth section? I personally find the section quite a lonely place to post in, and as there's never much going on in it, that maybe puts folk off posting? During 2007, since January, there has been an average of just over 1 post every 2 days..........in the last few weeks, most have been from me and I'm hardly in the first flush ;D ;D Comments please from anyone, but especially fae young folk

Maree, I could hardly be designated a youth (although have ony o wis gotten much past sixteen i wir heads? - better no answer dat een!), but I would like to comment on da forum in general. The youth section is faring particularly badly, but the whole thing seems to be getting very moribund these days. Not a lot of postings considering the large number of members. If it wasn't for our friends in "the deep (very deep!) south" of Nortmavine, and a very few others, there wouldn't be much said on many days. Why bother joining if you have nothing to say? You can always read other folk's comments (if that's all you want to do) as a guest. Could we spur folk into action do you think? I could easily turn up the controversy levels on many subjects if that's what it takes.......

Hey Bonna, I always say the best way to tackle a situation is from the inside So with that in mind would you consider becoming a moderator ?

I don't think Bonna has anything "moderate" in mind mal . Yes Bonna, it would be interesting to find oot why we have so many members who don't contribute to the forum. Are folk wary of having comments set in "type"? Are folk shy? Are the topics uninspiring? Do we need Bonna to "S-e-x" (wonder if this word will get round the censor fellow in da 'puter) up the forum? ;D Or is there another reason entirely?

Unfortunately I've got a feeling most young folk spend their nights leaving comments or messenging their pals on bebo, myspace, facebook or msn messenger and not on sites like this. But at the same time I like the youth section!! Even though I'm verging on too old to be going on it

Thanks but no thanks, Malcolm - maree's right - "moderate" is not really a word I would associate with myself, so I don't think I'd be the right man for the job!
Maree, I dunna keen aboot yun s-word, I doot a'm gittin kinda aald. I hae ta save me energies noo fur special occasions, laek me birthday an mebbe Christmas.....
Ingrid, you're probably fairly right about da young eens, but I don't think da aald eens can use those excuses! At least not eens as aald as me.

My twopennyworth. I think the Youth Section should go. It's had over a year now to see how it would work and it's not being used. It's taking up a lot of valuable 'real estate' on the forum homepage. Why is it not being used? You'd have to ask the youngeens that, but I suspect Ingrid's hit the nail on the head. There are a lot of much 'cooler' sites that the youngeens will be on - without the prying eyes of the auld eens. Suggestions? 1. Scrap the YS. <It doesn't have to be a 'forever' choice - it could be reinstated should there be the need for it.> Options - 2. Possibly make a youth board on the main 'General' section of the forum. <Old YS posts could be moved there if wanted.> Or - 3. Forget about any sort of separate youth section/board altogether and have everyone post together. <It was always the intention that the youngeens could post anywhere on the forum and were positively welcome to join in any discussion - they are, after all, members of Northmavine society and our future. The YS was meant as an additional place for them to talk together, as well as the main board.>

My 2p would be to unite all the Youth Sections in one but to keep it open for older "youths" (like me ;D ) to post in too - I have infact posted once there just to congratulate someone I think then realised that I shouldn't have been posting in there at all Apart from that I think all forums go through times with varying numbers of new posts - or lack of them as the case might be too sometimes. I don't think there's probably any one reason for it but people like our Welsh friends are to be commended on their posts - and more specifically, the quality of their posts - most excellent stuff! I find it hard to think up things to post about as I tend not to include what I am doing in my real life online (except for photos) although I must admit I find other folks lifes interesting to read about - nosy git here! And as for bonna s-e-x-i-n-g up the forum... *faint*! ;D Just my thoughts, for what they are worth Ps I think some of the Wanted/Sales/Barters etc threads could be linked together under one heading too - so long as people put Wanted/For Sale etc in their thread headings then everyone could see at a glance what's what - I agree with the scrolling issue - I'm too lazy for all that's needed sometimes!
