I went down to check the boat in Lk marina after the snow yesterday and found that an otter had been down earlier. I think when these prints were made the otter was in a hurry, running along the pontoon for over 40 metres with that arched back style. This is heading down a walkway back to the sea,(or to board a boat) and his gait seems to have slowed, as the pattern is quite different. Nice to know that otters can live so close to the town.

Fantastic footprints.........he's obviously a fellow who's fond of a more urban scene.......even the sealife is drifting to the centre He maybe gets a "fry" from Shetland Catch?

Don't know about the 'Catch', maybe too much seal competition but I know some of the boats in the marina will leave a fish under an upturned box ( keeps the maas off) and usually the otters will have an easy meal. On one occasion, an otter came on to such a boat when the owner was in the wheelhouse. The man sat quite still and watched the otter go around the foredeck and round to the stern of the boat where he investigated the boxes, and on finding nothing, silently plopped back into the sea. Amazing ;D

If something is distracting the otter or he's on a mission, they seem to pay little notice to us humans. I saw a mother and a young een "tooslin" on the foreshore and was able to creep up close and watch and take pictures for 5 or 10 minutes.........yes I'd agree heimdal.......it's truly amazin

Great pictures of the footprints, Heimdal! Our neighbour, the blacksmith, used to have one living in one of his outbuildings for a time. Was quite blasé as far as humans were concerned.

Here's a seal swimming towards me on Friday below Somerfield's - it seems to be saying "you can take my photo in here but I'm not coming out for the water for you!" Ps I would love to get an otter photo - that's my dream!

You know George I sometimes think "What can George take a picture off thats even more spectacular than his last lot", you certainly came up trumps with Killer Whales. Do you see them often, you must have gone WOW when you saw those.
