Despite some inclement winter weather at the back end of last year, the two social houses currently under construction at North Roe by Shetland Construction and Developments Ltd (SCD) are on schedule to be completed by June this year. The two houses will be leased as social housing as part of a Scottish Government, Rural Homes for Rent, pilot scheme. The project is a joint venture between the Scottish Government and local landowner, Drew Cromarty of Lochend and means that families can access rural housing at affordable rental prices. Each three bedroomed house has a kitchen/dining area and a sitting room with gorgeous sea views. There's also a family bathroom and an ensuite toilet with shower in the master bedroom. The Northmavine Community Development Company will act as leasing agent for the two houses and the company is busy preparing the necessary documents and agreements, ready for advertising the properties for rent and securing tenants. Any families interested in moving to North Roe can contact Maree at the NCDC office for further information - 01806 544222 or e-mail maree@northmavine.com Here's a few piccies

Rural Homes for Rent
Three bedroom house Anniesland, North Roe x 2
We have two three bedroom, five person, single storey, detached houses available to rent under the Rural Homes for Rent Scheme (RHfR).
Rent - £305 p.c.m
A key element of RHfR, is that it plans to meet identified housing need in the area to ensure the sustainability of the rural community. Specifically, the target tenants for the two properties at Anniesland are families for whom affordable rented housing within a rural community is a suitable housing option.
One of the properties is part of a nominations agreement with Hjaltland Housing Association (HHA). Prospective applicants are therefore advised to have a live application with HHA, as well completing our application form.
Application forms are available from NCDC, Greenbrae, South Collafirth, Ollaberry, Shetland , ZE2 9RX , telephone 01806 544222 or e-mail ncdcoffice@northmavine.com. Information on RHfR and the pointing system are also available.
Applications should be completed and returned to the NCDC by Friday 8th July 2011 to the above address.
