I went to the Conwy Food Festival with Buddie last week and was amazed to see so many apples on display. I had taken an apple from my small orchard for the man to identify - which he did. It was a James Grieves. But he had brought so many apples with him too! A couple of years ago I bought a Bardsey Island apple tree off him which is now growing well. This variety is descended from one tree that was growing right next to the house on the island and was possibly planted by the monks who used to live there!
