A reminder that the 1st part of Simon's Kings Shetland Diaries is on tonight at 8pm on BBC2. And yes, as Maree says, apparently some very special NORTHMAVINE WILDLIFE will be featured tonight. There's a book of the series coming out in April. You may want to buy it from the Shetland Times shop but if you want to pre-order it via Amazon, you might like to use this Northmavine referral link - bit.ly/di3ntk. It doesn't cost you any more but gives a small amount to the Northmavine Development Company for community projects such as the website. The audio book of the series is out in March and is available by the referral link here - bit.ly/97vASy.

Certainly worth watching, Simon King knows how to present such pro-grammes and his wife?/ partner? seems to be an expert as well. When he was deciding where to base himself for the duration of his stay he referred to being 2-1/2 hours from Lerwick, given normal driving conditions where could he be to be so far away from Lerwick, assuming he was not on any of the Islands of course.

This is where they were staying - it's on the Northmavine photo gallery page -> North Roe. You can also see the Sandvoe beach where Simon was struggling to cross in bad weather but this time in much better summer weather!

Really enjoyed the Simon King programmes - albeit there were a couple of slightly gratuitous moments which I like to think were in there because he felt the need to appeal to the more sentimental nature enthusiast. And looks like a great boost for the tourist industry.

Mrgluss.. i think that it is the best wildlife programe to be made in shetland.. i do know that a lot of members on one of my wildlife forums are raving about it, to the extent that one of them wants to relocate to here..
