It was a delightful summer's day yesterday and off we went to show the sheep. Here they are after a very successful day. My 2 year old ewe - she was champion - held here by my friend! My ram was reserve. My ram lamb got a first! And my little ewe lamb continues to grow like a mushroom. Here she is again,

They are fine looking sheep benjiesmum, and well done to you, good pics also. I am pleased you put up this posting as I have been meaning to ask a question but did not know were to ask, and now it is blindingly obvious. I am an avid follower of the Radio 4 programme, "The Archers" a story line at the moment involves buying cows, they do not go into detail of how many they intend buying but are spending £25,000:00 on some Guernsy's, how many would you get for that money. ???is that how you spell Guernsy's" PS do you have to show them in full coat, they look a wee bit warm for this weather.

Hi Aitch! Well now I am not really a cow person but have seen Guernseys selling at auction - they tend to maker about 1,000 gn or even higher (something to do with their milk records, pedigree etc.) I suppose you could pick one up for 500 gn but 1000 is about right I think. As for my sheep - they were all sheared off bare in late May - All that wool has grown since then! This is what full wool looks like!! I think it just grows so quickly. They all had plenty of shade at the show too - I took my umbrellas up in the afternoon.

Many thanks for the info Benjiesmum, I will now be able to listen to the "every day story of country folk" in a more enlightened way, your sheep look magnificent in their winter coats too.
