Hi George, I would hazard a guess it is some type of Lobelia!! Then again I'm not a gardener ;D

yes definitely lobelia, can get it in blue, purple, red and white. Whites my favourite

Thanks bramble and bod for confirming freds ID.. Now I know i'm a pest for asking, but i really need to ID these flowers.. 1.. 2. 3. 4. it was in a meadow near the sea. 5. same location [maybe buttercup? 6. in my garden.. its on a wee shrub with wiry stems.. 7. in my hanging basket. 8. in the meadow.
