What a disgraceful thing to write, its also bad of the Daily Express to even cosider printing it, I know people have "broad shoulders" over what is printed in papers nowadays but some things do hurt, even just a little. Good job he only represents the few who have nothing better to do.

Had a look at the plants all neatly lined up on Sunday, just waiting to get their roots down. There was a peerie digger sitting there too, so things are happening. I'm looking forward to seeing it all come together.

Must have missed this question Pat. The garden is coming on really well and everyone ahs been working really hard. The group has prepared the site for the Shetland Crofthouse garden and as of Monday we'll be starting to carry in stone for the crofthouse facade and the small walls. Tom Jamieson and Co will hopefully be on site a week on Monday to start building. When that's all completed we'll be able to start putting the plants in. The rest of the garden is in need of a lot of work...........some days we just don't know where to start!!....., but we've riddled earth, moved old fells, removed plants from overgrown beds, weeded and sown a lawn in the picnic area. PHEW!!! ;D We're also gathering stones and objects so that we can create a "beach" area. We have an old boat and we hope to get some enviroglass to signify the sea. After that we'll put down shingle and seaworn stones/boulders. Next Sunday we'll be doing our sponsored walk to raise the £2000 for Motor Neurone Disease. If we're lucky enough to raise more than that, the extra money will be used for the garden. We're trying to get as many sponsors as we can, so if you'd like to sponsor us, please pm me.

The garden is next to the Church of Scotland in North Roe. To get there you take the first right turn after the North Roe School and branch off to the right just past the Church. It actually began life as a graveyard, but there were problems and it lay empty for nearly 60 years until the community had the idea of making it into a garden

There's still lots of wark to be done dl, but we now have almost 20 volunteers and things are moving ahead well. A large group of us have spent the day starting to move the stones the builders will need to recreate the crofthouse facade. I took some piccies but I'm so knackered that I don't have the energy to upload them! ;D ;D Huge thanks to everyone who helped today......see you all again tomorrow. We'd welcome help fae anyone in the North Roe area that's feeling strong!!

Here's a piccie fae yesterday of some of the stone we moved. We've been at it again today and have managed to gather another few additional piles. It made me think of how hard folk worked in the past just to get a roof over their heads..........they didn't have 4 x 4 pickups to pull the trailer in those days either. We have a lot to be thankful for!
