I wish I had dye determination to master something, but I'm a peerie bit too lazy for dat

I had the same probs with my camera mhay, it kept flashing when I least expected it. When I rushed out to take my lambie piccies the other day they were all washed out looked like I'd turned a huge spotlight on them all. Could I find out how to turn the blinkin' thing off? NO!!!! At one point I tried covering the flash up with my finger!!! Finally I just pressed all the blinkin' buttons til it stopped flashing. I'm afraid I just have to point and shoot! No skill involved - just luck! And, folk may be interested in quite a good forum where I expect they will be putting up some good eclipse photos - but even if not there is a Photos A Week (PAWs) put up by members and there are some really stunning shots. Members can be quite critical of each others photos but I think that can be quite helpful when you are trying to develop techniques: www.dpreview.comthen click on various forums. The Konica Minolta forum is the one I tend to look at but they are all good.

I'm the same, re the flash that wants to pop up at times and then I can't remember where you turn it off..
Re Konica Minolta: I know that a good camera, a good cameraman/wummin doth not make, but interesting to know what you use, benji, as you've taken some crackin' pics!! ;D ;D

A peerie tip to anyone planning on buying a 4gb memory card for your camera - DON'T!! Last week I was oot fiddling aboot with the macro.....just trying things oot, so it was nothing important. After taking aboot 50 or 60 photos CHR appeared on the display and the camera widna tak anymore photos. When I came I home, the photos couldn't be downoloaded and despite cleaning, rubbbing, screaming and swearing the display continued to display CHR.
I sent the card off to Ben at da Camera shop who has now told me that 4gb cards haven't been "tested".......meaning Nikon have no responsibility for them I think. I've been advised to get a 2gb card instead......or two.

I wondered at first if the card needed formatting, but it could be that that size of card isn't supported by that particular model of camera. Which Nikon is it?
And, as good as the Camera Shop are, they don't know everything. When my <not that old> phone crashed, I asked their advice <although I hadn't bought it there> and they said I would have to bin it and buy another phone. I did a bit of research and flashed it <did a software update via the internet> and it worked! I went back in to show them that it was actually working and they were a bit gobsmacked.
Edit: You card isn't a Sandisk, is it?
