Amazing what excitement this topic has caused! I'm a wholehearted supporter of all you new-age loggers - much better than running amok with a chainsaw in the forests of Indonesia. And when you access this thread, it gives a whole new meaning to the term "logging on" ;D Sorry - couldn't resist.

Wow doesn't Fiona's fire look lovely and cosy ;D:) I'm not quite sure though whether this log making business is less work than the peathill or not but I guess it's a lot more environmentally healthy

Winter's usually are! he he!!! Unless, I s'pose you live down- under, then our winter (down-under) will be their summer so it'll be warm but I s'pose their winter will be cold too, but it will be summer here but that's usually colder than our winter in reality. It's been 18 degrees here today...sorry, I ramble!!!! Worronurth av you bin drinkin!!!!!!! That's wot I was thinkin' too and then I thought about a friend of mine wot's a Kiwi who spends winters in NZ and summers in Shetland. There again, when she goes to NZ in the winter then it'll be summer and when it's turning into winter then she'll be back for summer here. So, she's not getting any winter at all... ;D

Now we are huddled around a hole in the wall.. I suppose whether it's the peat hill or the log-making, you have the added benefit of expending calories. Since going to the Pilates class at Sullom, I'm thinking of using the principles whilst log-making, thus killing two birds with one log. I shall have on some soothing mood music, engage my core, centre my pelvis and indulge in a spot of slow thoracic breathing whilst on the out breath beat the living daylights out of a pile of papers.

Can you hum that one again, MG? I didn't recognise it the first time. Nah, not belly dancing DL, although I've heard it's very popular in these 'ere parts! As this is going way off-topic for paper logs, I'll start a new Pilates thread!
