This sounds very much like the Hull-Rotterdam ferry.I expect the Aberdeen-Lerwick ferry is smaller. The North Sea ferry was like a floating hotel. disco, casino etc. Meals were inclusive. Ah, MG - the memories that that has evoked!! ;D Me aged about 17/18, on an art trip to Holland in a minibus with a lecturer and a very assorted bunch of students of all ages. <I was the baby> Oh, the adventures! And that was just the ferry, never mind the trip. I can vouch for there being a casino and disco. PS My reference to pork sandwiches, although a joke, did have some reality. When I was a wee boy my parents took me to Guernsey on a holiday and the ferry hit really rough seas and every one was ill, except me! I could be found in the canteen (as it was in those days) chomping ham sandwiches at 1/4 price as they couldn't sell them! Heheh. ;D I remember being on the Uganda as a teenager, on a Baltic trip. A bit of a rough day and the decks were awash with.. well, it's wasn't very nice. My best pal threw up over a teacher's shoes. Come mealtime, there was me, in the canteen alone.. Must have been a sign that I'd be ok living in Shetland and coping with ferries.

Hi FiFi Glad you liked ma wee tales.
I can also remember being on a CallyMac ferry wi' BM going through the Minches on a really rough day and the crew/passengers were definitely going puce. I was having trouble keeping my malt whisky in the glass (which is usually not a problem) and guess what? At the ham sandwiches again!!!
