www.aisliverpool.co.uk/showship.php?mmsi=235746000 and other ports/areas from the drop-down menu on the bottom left of the screen. You can mouse over and click on the various vessels and a click on the SP icon (left side of screen) brings up a pic and vessel details. It is a good site for anyone interested in shipping. It's an excellent site that, Heimdal. i've just been watching the progrss of a number of boats. Great stuff!

Our Vodafone mobiles haven't been able to get a signal today nor can I get a signal for my internetty device. <which is probably on Orange> Mini on O2 is ok though. Heard rumours of a mast problem, probably due to the weather. Anyone heard anything?

Vodafone is ok here in Lerwick, must be a mast problem closer to you. Not surprising with that wind One of the lamp standards, 30 foot high, at Lerwick marina blew down, just a 3 foot stump left and the two floodlights are submerged

Oo-er! Thanks for the info, Heimdal. It was certainly a sustained windy period!

Vodafone seems to be back on again, with us at least. Seems to still be off in a number of areas including Brae and Tingwall.

Hi Fiona, I still have "no network" showing on my phone so it's still off here too - I guess the wind got a mast somewhere over the w/e.

Hi DL. Sorry to hear you're still off. You've maybe already been reading the thread on Shetlink, but someone seemed to think that a mast in Scalloway was down - not sure if there are any other mast problems or just that.
Someone else mentioned the Muckle Roe mast being a bit unreliable and that could affect folk that that serves.

Not too sure where my signal comes from here nowadays but I do know that it used to come from Yell as sometimes I had to go halfway down my path and wave my phone in the direction of Yell and then my messages would send - not too good on a cold winter's night!

Hope you <and others who are also off> are back on soon. My Pocketsurfer's still not working - it's probably on Orange. How are others on other networks getting on? O2 seems ok. Anyone on Orange or T-Mobile?

Still no network here so it's not fixed yet - or not here anyway.

I see Shetland is still being left off of most of the weather maps! They show parts of France, Germany, Belgium etc but not Shetland.
Do we not exist? Or perhaps we dont get weather up here.
Come on BBC , We do exist !

My mobile is now showing 1 reception bar on my phone and I have just sent a text message too (had to go outside for the message to send though) so things are improving - slowly

Malcolm, forget UK weather maps! Use instead the excellent Icelandic (and therefore North Atlantic-centered) site theyr.tv.
They do weather from all over the world as well, if you want it, but you can have a map with Shetland near enough centered on it.
There is a small drawback in that they charge a small fee, but in return their forecasts seem very accurate - much, much better than the BBC's on-line ones, at any rate.
