Well, I made a mess and had great fun in the utility room this afternoon. <But I've been banned and relegated to the shed after this.. > The wet pulped paper in the logmaker. Yes, I was impatient so it probably could have pulped more. Mind you, I then started a 2-sink system so some was pulping while I was squashing.. Used a mixture of old newspapers, shredded paper and our Easter egg boxes. Found it quite difficult <being a mere wummin> to push the handles down enough, so perfected the art of balancing on the handles.. <I hadn't squeezed out the water very much before putting the pulp into the logmaker on the first one, so the water went all over the floor.. Managed to squeeze out more when putting the handfulls of pulp into the machine on subsequent ones. > Woooo! First paper log!! I wanna burn it nowwww!!! My first attempt.

Hilarious, innit! I did think about covering them in sticky backed plastic once they'd dried, but perhaps not.. I'm thinking of starting a new support group - LMA. <Log Makers Anonymous> There could be me, bonna, snowy... oh but then not exactly anonymous.. ;D We could meet and discuss the nuances of pulping and the ideal location for squeezing. And, hot off the press, the report everyone has been waiting for - Drying Paper Logs - Inside or Air Drying?

Thank you. I did 8 t'other day. <I'm easily pleased.. > Hubby used a big old plastic tank we've got in the shed and has pulped loads of cardboard, including the packaging which our reclaimed wooden bed came in. So today hubby and I have knocked out about another 30. For any other novice logmakers like us, an experienced logmaker did advise that it's better to burn them with other fuel - not just a paper log fire!

Whit? And risk causing peat slides? Think about your carbon footprint! Peats.....tut tut.....bad, bad oldthink. Nearly as bad as windfarms.......
