;D @ The Aldi tree - now why didn't I guess that's what it was - doh! <--- said in my best Homer Simpson tone! It is beautiful whatever type of cherry tree it might be - I typed cheery tree there before I corrected it and thought that might be an appropriate name too!

I know professional gardeners wouldn't recommend buying a sad looking tree because you felt sorry for it, but like you BM I bought a camellia in the Co-op for the same reason and it is growing splendidly in my porch with beautiful waxy white starlike flowers out now. It lives in there till after flowering (Shetland's too harsh a climate I think to plant them outdoors) and then goes out in its pot for the summer. Camellias really bring a touch of exotic to the spring. The passionflower I planted in the porch is going rampant and starting to flower too - the postman may come across me trapped in the undergrowth one of these days! ;D

I brought this wee Rowan Tree back from Paisley and planted it about a fortnight ago in memory of my late wife, now it's leaf's have opened out and seem's to be doing well...... What a lovely idea George. Folk have traditionally planted the Rowan for luck. Here's what I think is a peerie traditional verse about the Rowan for you: "Rowan tree, rowan tree, pretty mountain ash, Protect me right well from storm, flood and flash."

Well there you go mrgluss - you pitied the poor plant and it has rewarded you with beautiful flowers.

Well done mrgluss! While yours is indoors, I'd never considered growing blossom trees outdoors, thinking them a bit exotic and not hardy enough for here, but I spotted a lovely one in full bloom a while back in King Harald St. Being an ignoramus, and driving past, I don't know whether it's cherry or summat else - but very nice and made us wonder about a Hillswick blossom tree..
