Hi Fiona, wild and windy here too. I saw a bus had been blown off the road down the Sumburgh way but there were no injuries and the bus is reported as recovered now over on Shetlnk. Not been further than my neighbour's house today and that was far enough! SIC has the windspeeds and temps etc for several parts of Shetland here if anyone wants to look.

Still a lot of shipping taking shelter east of Shetland this afternoon www.aisliverpool.co.uk/showship.php?mmsi=235003893and I see on Teletext (p332) that Lerwick Coastguard were recording gusts of 97 mph yesterday. Certainly was a severe blow for so early in the winter, it was more like a January gale. 'Hrossey' came in to Lerwick about 1pm, having left Aberdeen at 3 am, so a quick trip but I would think 'uncomfortable'

We spent the night listening to our roof tiles dancing to the wind, thankfully they stayed in place.

Sorry about the state of my post! Typed on ma wee Pocket surfer by candlelight when its juice was just about to run out! We were off from about 4.20pm until about 11.30pm. Someone from North Roe said today they'd only been off for about 15 mins, lucky devils! Hope everyone fared ok. Think we've just got a couple of loose slates on the surgery.

Looks like you've been having some wild weather! I've been away on a UHI student trip to the Assynt area of Scotland. We visited Lochinver, Stoer and stayed in a remote, beautiful place called Auchmelvich. The weather was pretty hairy there too!! I wish I had some pictures of the lochs whipping up across the road but it was just too wild to take photos!

It really brings home to you what is floating about around the British Isles. The Channel looks very busy as does around the S'hampton area.

Bit of a 'breeze' again last night, 93mph gust recorded in Lerwick and a fishing boat in Scalloway was breaking her mooring ropes according to the Shetland Times on-line page. Also reports of roof tiles flying off and some windows broken. Hope you are all without damage.
